Le débridement parodontal est un élément central du traitement initial qui consiste à enlever mécaniquement les microorganismes pathogènes des dents et de leur environnement, sans éliminer de façon excessive le cément pour produire une racine biologiquement capable de s’attacher sainement. Ceci présente de nombreux défis pour les cliniciens. Cette formation permettra de calibrer vos connaissances et votre technique en matière d’instrumentation afin d’atteindre un plus haut niveau de confiance clinique.
L’avant-midi sera consacré sur l’instrumentation ultrasonique et les méthodes de travail avec les curettes manuelles seront abordées en après-midi. Les participants auront l’occasion de pratiquer les techniques sur des têtes de mannequin avec différents embouts Cavitron et curettes manuelles.

Vertical and horizontal ridge augmentation in the posterior and anterior jaws, has represented a significant challenge. The use of titanium mesh housing 100% allograft on a deficient alveolar ridge is proving to be a valid and predictable technique providing the biological parameters sufficient for pre-implant periodontal, hard- and soft-tissue support for a functional prosthesis. Clinical adversities will be discussed, including anatomical limitations, which are inherent in securing a rigid non-resorbable membrane in order to maintain the space for the success of allograft. Three dimensional printing of the bony and dental anatomy allows for visualization and tactile examination, without the presence of the patient, and has shown to be a significant advantage that ameliorates these clinical challenges

🦷 Strategic Panoramic Analysis: Understand the Panoramic Images, learn to recognize artifacts and real pathologies (EN)
Dental professionals must understand the difference between normal anatomical landmarks and abnormal findings, such as artifacts or pathology, which may be present on a panoramic image when viewing both the mandible and maxilla in the one projection. It is recommended to review the image systematically in order not to overlook anything that might be a deviation from normal. The focal trough is the area in which structures will appear most sharply and clearly. Structures, which fall in front of or behind, the focal trough, can be distorted, magnified or reduced. Panoramic radiography offers several advantages over conventional intraoral radiography. Broad anatomic region is imaged, including additional visualization of the areas of the body of the mandible beyond the periapical region, the ramus, the temporomandibular joint, the maxillary sinus and the stylohyoid complex. The focal trough is the area in which structures will appear most sharply and clearly. Magnification, geometric distortion, and overlapped images of teeth sometimes occur. Objects situated outside the focal trough will be distorted or obscured on the radiograph.

The paranasal sinuses are 4 paired airspaces that border the nasal cavity. The functions of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses include decreasing the weight of the skull, heating and humidifying inspired air, resonance in speech, regulation of intranasal pressure, and increasing surface area for olfaction. The paranasal sinuses have also been described as crumple zones or areas that absorb the energy from trauma and protect vital structures in the skull. Pericoronal radiolucencies are common radiographic findings encountered in general dental practice. They usually represent a normal or enlarged dental follicle that requires no intervention; alternatively they may represent a pathological entity that requires appropriate management and histopathological interpretation. Familiarity with the radiological features and differential diagnoses of diseases or conditions that cause radiolucency around the crown of the tooth results in appropriate referral and prompt diagnosis, management, and treatment. Early recognition and appropriate treatment of benign or malignant processes will result in improved clinical outcomes. It is crucial for the clinician to fully investigate all teeth that fail to erupt at the expected time, and promptly initiate appropriate assessment and management of suspected cystic lesions.

In the context of the more widespread use of cone-beam CT, a detailed review of the radiological appearance of radiopaque inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions is timely and may aid dentist perform a differential diagnosis of these lesions.

Cysts are common and the majority are inflammatory. Almost all true cysts and most benign neoplasms expand by hydrostatic pressure and are therefore frequently spherical or nearly spherical in shape. This shape is achieved in larger cysts and neoplasms by displacing the buccal and lingual cortices and presenting as buccolingual expansion. Odontogenic or non odontogenic lesions, arising within the jaws, if sufficiently large will displace the mandibular canal, create resorption of the adjacent teeth and expand the cortices. It is essential for a dental professional to be familiar with the radiological appearance of the most common well defined unilocular radiolucencies of the jaws and the importance of early detection and management of such lesions.
